What is My Story Maker? It is a website by Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Can be used in class for students to be creative in writing their own stories. It will reinforce their understanding & knowledge of telling or writing a story. It will give students a better idea of the “elements” of a story sequence.

What to do? Click on “Play My StoryMaker” Click on “Click to begin”
Type your name then press “OK” Choose a character (pictures on the side) Choose a goal (additional directions will depend on the goal chosen) then click “OK” Click “Don’t like it” or “Start my story” Start writing your story with characters, scenery objects , and settings.

Features: “Clear” to erase everthing to rewrite page
“Preview” to see how the page looks Click on the “Blue guy” if you need additional help “Arrow” pointing right for next page Created pages are at the top- use to navigate through story writing process “End” to stop writing to “Print” or “Share”

Things to know: Should be used with Internet Explorer
Some remote users, Storymaker is unable to publish the book. May help to limit pages. If unable to retrieve .pdf file using magic number & Adobe Reader X to view- will not print out. There is a bug in Adobe Flash Player release causes text to be vertical Some remote user, published book is not saved on their server (.pdf file) may be due to firewall setting on user’s computer.
