2 Six Commitments underpin our purpose
Six Commitments underpin our purpose. By delivering on all six Commitments – and their corresponding Outcomes – we will become a truly extraordinary organisation.

3 4 years of investigation, planning and design.
Feasibility study identified that the imported organic waste digestion process has been successfully used around the world, particularly in Europe and the US. Business case for such facilities in the Australian context differed greatly to that of Europe and the US. design challenge faced was in using imported technology not usually used by an Australian utility provider, and adapting it to meet Australian standards and water industry expectations in terms of safety and environmental regulations. Benefits of existing large buffer zone around the facility from residential and commercial premises, close to organic waste generators and with great transport links.

4 Facility is located in Wollert adjoining STP
Fully operational and taking waste since October 2016 Facility accepts trucked organic solid and liquid wastes from commercial sources. The facility can process over 33,000 tonnes of organic waste per year. Facility processess the waste through two anaerobic digesters to produce methane-rich biogas. Single Stage - Mesophilic process. Peak electricity generating capacity of 1-Megawatt. 2 x 530kW engines which supply electricity to both the neighboring sewage treatment plant, with the surplus going to the electricity grid.

5 RENEWABLE ENERGY DRIVERS
Reduce Operating Costs Generate Revenue Create Renewable Energy

6 Waste management is a core CAPABILITY of WATER INDUSTRY
Yarra Valley Water Area

7 WASTE NETWORKS ARE SIMILAR & OVERLAPPING…….
“Back Door” Waste “Front Door” Waste

8 Our problem – insufficient sewage sludge
OTHERS PROBLEMS OUR OPPORTUNITY Our problem – insufficient sewage sludge Others’ problem…….. Our opportunity?

9 Council Opportunities
Help / retain your large customers by promoting cost saving initiatives Seperation at domestic level will require generational change but may be possible in growth area councils - We are certainly open to organic waste trials The Water Industry has large land holdings i.e. noise and odour buffers -partnering opportunities exist for co-location Power Purchase Agreements
