Progression Policy: Re-entry requirements for Year 12s into Year 13
2
What do I need to know? What are my THTs and how have they been calculated? What evidence will formally establish the progress I have made on my courses by the end of Year 12? For each of the different types of courses, when will I know my result? What are the progress requirements for re-entry into Year 13? What are the other requirements for re-entry into Year 13?
3
1. What are my THTs and how have they been calculated?
THT stands for ‘Toot Hill Target’ Grade. You have been given a THT for each of the courses you are currently studying. The THT is a calculation that includes: The results you achieved personally at GCSE The national average of attainment students get in this course nationally. If you achieve your THT… you are achieving at least in line with the national average of progress for that course. So… at Toot Hill College we expect all students to achieve their THT in each of their courses by the end of their two years with us.
4
Remember: Your THTs are now ‘split grades’!
A Levels A* 1 A* 2 A* 3 A 1 A 2 A 3 B 1 B 2 B 3 C 1 C 2 C 3 D 1 D 2 D 3 E 1 E 2 E 3 Single Award Vocational courses D* 1 D* 2 D* 3 D 1 D 2 D 3 M 1 M 2 M 3 P 1 P 2 P 3 Double Award Vocational Courses D*D* 1 D*D* 2 D*D* 3 D*D 1 D*D 2 D*D 3 DD 1 DD 2 DD 3 DM 1 DM 2 DM 3 MM 1 MM 2 MM 3 MP 1 MP 2 MP 3 PP 1 PP 2 PP 3 These split grades are to help you know exactly where you are within a grade boundary. They will be used on your reports for you and your parents. Nevertheless, when we discuss re-entry requirements to Year 13, we talk in ‘whole’ grades because – ultimately – you will receive a ‘whole’ grade in the final result you achieve in the course at the end of Year 13.

2. What evidence with formally establish the progress I have made on my courses by the end of Year 12?
