Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution challenged the biblical account of creation and man’s special place in that creation.

4. Marxism
Denied the spiritual side of man as well as man’s depravity.

5. Theory of Relativity
Albert Einstein’s theory that space, time, and matter are not absolute dimensions but are relative to the location and motion of the observer.

7. Using his theory, many denied that there are moral absolutes.
Relativism: Belief that truth is different for everyone and it depends on one’s circumstances.

8. Sigmund Freud
He argued that people had to get rid of inhibitions in order to have emotional health.

9. Led people to believe that self-restraint led to emotional disorders that required psychoanalysis to cure.
