Opening The Door: Door Assistant Robert Gubbels, Tate Mackay, Chance Bohr, Jake Broyles
Problem Definition: Josiah mainly has problems opening the doors at the Morrison Center, its doors have a specific handle he cannot get on his own. The handle is vertical and is about nine inches in length and four inches wide; it has ridges on the front for grip and a lip on the back. He wants a device that attaches to the handle that is connected to a rope where his service dog then pulls the door open. The item will have to be easily applicable and removable for simple use since Josiah has limited movement in his hands. List of objectives: Must: Be able to open flat solid handle doors Store on hook on his chair Be usable by his service dog Wants: work for other types of handles also Low wants: Be able to work on door knobs Constraints: Project cannot exceed two hundred dollar budget. Product must not exceed five pounds. Product must not exceed two feet in length. Product must be easily manipulated with minimal effort by client. Product Must not damage doors.
