Titration Lab: Day 2 Chemistry 6/3/15
2
Warm - Up What did you learn from your titration yesterday? What will you change/keep the same in your technique? HW: Finish Titration calculation, if needed Make sure you will have a scientific calculator for Friday—borrow one?
3
Objective IWBAT: Use correct lab technique to titrate an acid
Calculate the concentration of an unknown acid using titration

Titration Lab Practice Technique
You will work in the lab with a partner of your choice—make sure it is someone who will pay attention! Must wear goggles, aprons and closed toe shoes Do not refill the burette. Call Ms. Bloedorn over if you need more NaOH Make SURE to record the unknown number! Use only the unknown in YOUR beaker.
7
Titration Lab You and your partner will work together to try to achieve a pale pink endpoint in the lab. Remember that you are working with an acid and a base—treat the chemicals with respect and caution! If either gets on your skin, immediately wash it off with soap and water. Record the START and END volumes for each trial. Ms. Bloedorn MUST sign off on each one for you to get credit. After you have performed 3 titrations, wash your hands and return to your seats. Work on ONE sample calculation—choose your “best” trial
8
REMEMBER! This is what your solution should look like

Closure What do you think of titration?
Did you know that most titrations are done by machines, in the real world? What are the advantages of this system?
