2. The 1st Quest
The 1st quest was set out to find the historical Jesus rather than the
religious Jesus
The first quest was influenced by German Theologians
Back then people only looked at Jesus through the churches perspective
Started by Reimarus who wrote the book The Quest of the Historical Jesus
Ended with Wrede’s Messianic Secret
Wanted to remove Christianity from government decision making

3. The 2nd Quest
Cohen’s works continued with the first quest in trying to find the Historical Jesus
The people in the second quest went to find out what Jesus was really like back then
They thought he was based off of The son of God, The Prophet, and the holy man
Schwitzer said that they need to fit Jesus to there moral needs
