Academic Integrity Ensure faculty and instructional academic staff have the degrees and expertise to teach courses and meet FASLAH qualifications (p. 94, 157) Syllabi need to collected each term and include university-approved course descriptions and objectives, including GE, RES and/or GLP objectives if applicable Clear alignment with the credit hour definition, including compressed courses

Curriculum & Instruction Committee
Objectives of the CIC are to: Review, develop and recommend new and/or modified curriculum policies Serve as an academic forum to discuss and act upon proposals for credit-producing learning experiences as well as academic programs Encourage a transdisciplinary approach to curriculum and instructional growth Promote academic excellence and educational opportunity and encourage the use of appropriate standards throughout the curriculum Tricia: standing FS committee; all-univ faculty & academic staff representation;

Revision or New Course? Changing one or more of the following is a revision*: *If you plan to revise several of the above items, consider whether this is a new course: Would it be appropriate for students (who took it previously) to take it again for additional credit? If content has changed that significantly, drop the course and submit a new course proposal. Course content and/or objectives Title Credits Prerequisites Course number/level Catalog description GE designation RES designation GLP designation Reminder – repeatability test: if the updated version is equivalent to the previous version, it’s a revision. If not, it’s new.

One Time Only? Variable Topic?
NOT THE SAME Special Exceptions: One- or Two-time requests (x96) Special/Variable Topics (x00): Must have an umbrella course (requires prior approval as a new course) that broadly defines the nature of the topic Documentation required is the same but the signature route is different If GE, GLP or RES designation is requested, additional consultation will occur with the respective committees Tricia: talk about the difference

Syllabi Repository Requirement
Permanent curriculum files can be imaged Department chairs and support staff have access to view current and archived curriculum documents Departments may upload course syllabi into ImageNow using an Intranet web form (Provost website- forms & applications):

Currently occurs annually each Spring GE Course Assessment Reports Reports are archived and accessed through UW-Stout’s information portal Jackie

Planning and Review Committee
A standing committee of the Faculty Senate, reviews programs every *four years: Program directors conduct a program self study, survey key instructors, students, advisory board and alumni Report strengths, areas for improvement, and recommendations Chairs & Deans review recommendations and provide response Jackie
