2 Carbohydrates provide energy the major source of energy for body
an organic compound the major source of energy for body provide energy produce glucose two types - sugar (simple) - starches (complex) fruits, grains, and milk etc.

3 Fats are generally fatty acids the way you store energy keep body warm
protect organs keep blood pressure steady keep hair & skin healthy two types - saturated fatty acids (terrible) - unsaturated fatty acids (good)  meat, eggs, cheese etc

4 Protein forms from 20 amino acids from body and food
builds up muscles, organs and glands produces haemoglobin fights diseases to make muscle, skin, or bones meat, eggs, and fish

5 Fibre indigestible structural component of plants in all plant foods
prevents diabetes and cardiovascular disease two kinds - soluble: absorbs liquid (fruits, vegetables) - insoluble: won’t absorb liquid (cereals, whole grains) beans, banana, and broccoli

6 Vitamins a related set of compounds substances that are found in foods we eat needed to growth boost the immune system help cells & organs two types - fat soluble: stored in the fat tissues & liver water soluble: 1. don’t get stored 2. travel through bloodstream 3. must be replenished vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K vegetables, fruits, nuts, and whole grains etc

7 Minerals substances that are found in foods we eat
contain calcium, iron, potassium, and zinc similar to vitamins help grow, develop, and stay healthy help your immune system help your muscles transport oxygen build strong bones trace minerals (small) macro-minerals (large) salmon and cheese etc

8 Water is a liquid at ambient conditions
makes up more than half of your body carries food to all parts of body helps get rid of waste needed for digestive juices, urine (pee), and poop cell depends on water in lymph water, milk, fruit, and vegetables
