General informations Forest fireprotection is an action aimed to combat wildfire in forests. Forest conflagrations causes serious problems to the environnment There are many of service defeating fire in forests History of forest fire protection is very young

History of forest fire protection
History of forest fire protection is not rich. Before XX century peoples did not care about forest fires. If it has already occurred it’s extingushing it was amateurisch, for example bubbles with water. Just in the beggining of XX century peoples started to create proffesional forest fire protection service. It started in USA and Canada, then it cames to Europe.

Different types of forest conflagrations
Crown Fires Burn trees up their entire lenght to the top. Theses are the most dangerous types of wildfires. Surface fires Burn only surface litter and duff. These types are easier to put out then crown fires. Ground fires Burn deep accumulations of humus and peat. It is very difficult to put it out. This type of conflagration is moving very slowly.

Effects of wildfires Wildires take away homes, wildlife, as well as vegetation Destroy the forest soil, trees and plants Causes pollution with large amounts of smoke during the conflagration Ash and smoke can cause serious health problems to humans Jobs are lost for people working in the forests

Europeans institutions for forest fire protection
EFFIS The aim of EFFIS is to provide EU level assessments of situations before and after fires and to support fire prevention through risk mapping, and promote preparedness, fire fighting and post-fire evaluations. The objective of EFFIS is not to duplicate or substitute national databases, but to provide information with a European scope. Directorates-General (DGs) (DGs) at the European Commission are involved in the development and monitoring of measures in the field of information, prevention, fire fighting and restoration of burned surfaces.

Do NOT burn any materials in forests Follow all of the local regulations and laws regarding burning fires Teach childrens the rules and safety precautions of camping and being in forest Do NOT smoke cigarettes in forest Educate people about the protection of the forests
