The Fall 2016 DDOT Training is scheduled for 10/24/2016
The Fall 2016 DDOT Training is scheduled for 10/24/ Sandra and I will attend this training and it is possible that more information will be forthcoming. However, we wanted to update you with as much information as we could before the Fall Writing window.

Testing Manuals Manuals can be downloaded from the VDOE website.
Print the manuals or sections of the manuals that you need to use.

Examiners’ Manuals Manuals can be downloaded from the VDOE website.
(use link from previous slide) Print and use the manuals or sections of the manuals examiners need to use.

Calculators The list of approved calculators can be found on the VDOE website. Please note: this list applies to all students. There is not a separate list for students with IEP’s, 504 plans, or ELL plans.

Formula Sheets Formula sheets can be accessed from the VDOE website.

TestNav 8 Be sure you have the latest version of
TestNav 8. Pearson sent out updates in June and August. (August for iOS users.) You can access the information you need on the Pearson website. Support Tech (in the Resource Categories box)

TestNav 8 Practice sets for a large number of tests are available on the VDOE website. This video can be used by teachers and students to familiarize themselves with TestNav 8: Make sure examiners and students are familiar with the new testing format.

SDU The SDU requirements and template have changed. (see attachment) Read and review this document before you try to submit an SDU file. Changes are outlined on page 1 of the upload instructions.

SDU Data User Guide This guide will answer many of your questions about data fields. Please consult the tables in the guide for questions about: transfer students, retesting, term grads, ELL, and disability categories. Some categories have been removed and others added.

SDU Data User Guide New for #17 – Military Connected Student Code (REQUIRED) If this information is not sent to you from the base LEA, you will need to ask the student. NOTE: this covers the entire school year.

SDU Data User Guide New for #19 – Initial Primary Nighttime Residence Code If this information is not sent to you from the base LEA, you will need to ask the student. NOTE: this covers the entire school year.

SDU Data User Guide New for #20 – Foster Care If this information is not sent to you from the base LEA, you will need to ask the student. NOTE: this covers the entire school year.

#21 – N-Code/Economically Disadvantaged
SDU Data User Guide New for #21 – N-Code/Economically Disadvantaged If #19 is populated, you must enter a “Y” in #21. If #19 is not populated, do not enter any information in #21.

SDU Sandra (once again, thank you Sandra ) has created an SOP SDU Template for you to use. (see attachment) When you have to upload more than one SDU, remember that sometimes it’s best to work from the template rather than clearing a previously submitted SDU.

VAAP/VGLA There are new forms that are required when VAAP/VGLA data is collected. Contact Laurie if your staff will be collecting VAAP/VGLA work samples at any point during the school year. VGLA is only for ELL students who qualify.

Substitute Tests for Verified Credit
The ACT WorkKeys Business Writing Assessment has been discontinued. The VDOE website has a list of available substitute tests for verified credit.

Proctor Cache STC’s were sent an on 08/24/2016 with updated Proctor Cache information. If you did not receive this, please let Laurie know. You can also access Proctor Cache information from Pearson. (under “Support”)

Accommodations Remember new accommodations were added last year. You can find a list of accommodations in the Test Implementation Manual and in the document: Students with Disabilities: Guidelines for Special Test Accommodations.

Paper/Pencil Tests Contact Laurie if you have a student who requires a paper/pencil test.

CAT For Fall 2016, math tests in grades 6-8 will be Computer Adaptive Tests (CAT). More tests will be in this format for Spring 2017. Be sure students are aware of this test format and have practiced this type of testing.

Expedited Retakes For Fall 2016 Non-Writing, expedited retakes are mandatory for all students who qualify. For tests that are not EOC assessments, you must have parent permission for the student to retest. That documentation is maintained at your facility.

Important Dates Grade 8 and EOC Writing: 10/17/2016 - 11/04/2016
Who can test during this window? Grade 8 and EOC on a true 4x4 for writing EOC re-testers

Important Dates Term Grads First Attempt (Writing)
10/17/2016 – 10/28/2016 Who can test during this window? Students who still need to pass the Writing EOC assessment and are scheduled to graduate on or before 08/31/2017

Important Dates Term Grads Second Attempt (Writing)
11/14/2016 – 12/09/2016 Who can test during this window? Students who still need to pass the Writing EOC assessment and are scheduled to graduate on or before 08/31/2017

Important Dates Fall Non-Writing Who can test during this window?
Students on a true 4x4 who need to take an SOL assessment because the course will end at the end of the first semester Students who need to pass an non-writing EOC assessment for verified credit

NEW FOR SOP’s The state window for Fall Non-Writing is: 11/28/2016 – 02/24/2017 You must select a three week window within that time frame that you will administer testing at your facility. Laurie your facility’s testing window no later than: 11/04/2016.
