6. Daniel 7 In the first year of Belshazzar Babylon’s king
Daniel had a dream
He saw 4 winds of heaven break on the great sea
Out of the sea came 4 beast
The first was like a lion with eagle wings
The second like a bear with 3 ribs in teeth
Third was a leopard w/4 wings with dominion

7. Daniel 7 Then an aweome beast ruthless and strong
With iron teeth that devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped scraps with its feet
It had ten horns
Then another horn came, a little one
The little horn had eyes and mouth that spoke great boasting things
I kept looking until the Ancient one sat on His throne and the books were opened

8. Daniel 7 The little horn continued to speak
The great beast was slain, body destroyed and thrown into the fire
The other beast had their dominion taken but allowed to continue for a time
I kept looking and out of the clouds came one like a human being, He approached the Ancient and was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom that all nations and people might serve him.

The 4th beast is the fourth kingdom upon the earth (Babylon, Meads, Grecian, Roman)
The ten horns were ten kings that would arise, then another KING arose
He would put down 3 kings
He would speak against the Most High
He would wear down the saints of Most High
Would think to change laws & times that were given into his hands
His dominion taken away and given unto the saints of the Most High

16. Interpretation
Daniel fits as one of the prophets that Peter describes
1Pe 1:10 ¶ Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

– Most likely, “little horn” = Antiochus Epiphanes
– His cruel treatment of Jews (defiling temple, etc.)
eventually led to Maccabean Revolt ( BC)

– The point – Jerusalem would eventually cease to
be the center of God’s dwelling among His people Jn 4:20-24 Woman at the well

26. Let your anger and wrath be turned from Jerusalem, your holy mountain

Do not wait any longer, for your own sake
Your city and people are called by your NAME
GABRIEL says 70 weeks have been ordained as the time to restrain from transgression, to end sins & reconcile for iniquities

27. Jerusalem would be rebuilt and the ANOINTED ONE would come, the Jews would reject Him, He would be crucified at Jerusalem
However Jerusalem would be destroyed again it would be complete destruction
It would never occupy a special place in God’s plan
It would never again be the city of God all because Israel refused to be OBEY GOD

Oh Lord who is faithful, we have sinned
We have not listened to your prophets
You have been righteous but we have not
We deserve to have been scattered
We abandoned you & your commandment
The curse Moses said has come on us Deut 28
We still have not ask for your favor
Therefore we have no relief from our calamity (it is all our fault we would say today)

Xerxes/Ahasuerus) decides to attack Greece cp. Esther 1:3
– Alexander the Great responded, defeating the
Persian forces
– Almost as quickly as he gained victory, Alexander
died at the young age of 32…his kingdom was
divided between 4 of his generals

30. Da 11:2 And now will I shew thee the truth
Da 11:2 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.
3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

Dan Vision Of Years of Silence
– Antiochus Epiphanes used Palestine as a staging
area to attack Egypt on several occasions
– When defeated, he would mistreat the Jews
– Eventually, the Jews revolted (Maccabean Revolt)
– Finally, Rome gained power from the west and
controlled both the Ptolemais & Seleucids
– Though Rome did destroy Jerusalem in A.D. 70,
Rome could not crush the spiritual kingdom
spoken of numerous times by the prophets
(Daniel 2:34-35)

33. Da 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

34. The point to remember is that God is in control even today.
Also remember none of these prophecies has any direct bearing on any modern events. They are not talking about some treaty being signed in our world today. Neither is one of these kings a reference to some ruler alive somewhere today.
God is answering Daniel concerning His people and what would happen in the centuries following Daniel.
