Exposure to such conditions is deemed to contaminate most in- vessel components
NB: in ITER first years of operations with Be but no radioactivity

Important to label/keep track of components coming out from facility
Need cleaning techniques
vacuum with soft brushing;
Manual cleaning with alcohol wipes + dry wipes;
Ultrasonic bath. Pressure washing with demineralised water.
Complex: Acid etch, Ultrasonic bath rinse.
Important to check Be contamination level when receiving components

2 types of Be waste in ITER: Be-only (early years), and then activated waste (once nuclear operations begin)
