What does ‘Age Related Expectation’ mean?
Age related expectation is the standard each child should achieve for their year group. (Years 1-6). EYFS: Early Learning Goals are assessed to see if the child is meeting the levels of development (Expected (2), Exceeding this level (3) or not yet achieving this level. (1) These expectations are drawn from the programme of study out in the National Curriculum or the EYFS curriculum. These are end of year expectations, and therefore, it should not be expected that children will have met all of the statements before then. There are age related expectations for each year group for the core subjects English, Maths and Science.
