Requirements and common characteristics Approx. 5 buddies per mentor Approx. duration per activity: 75 hours Every mentor must do: Intercultural knowledge course. Evaluation system Credit recognition when the activity is finished Collaboration of the Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations with the Faculties Dirigido a todos los estudiantes la UGR: se pretende que todos los estudiantes outgoing e incoming de todos los centros puedan participar en el programa. Los requisitos y actividades se describen más adelante. Destacar el curso.

Pilot experience 2011/2012 Design of the program
Study of the practices in different institutions, including particular initiatives from some Faculties in UGR Definition of: Requirements and selection criteria Compulsory and optional activities Credit compensation for the activities Evaluation system of the mentors 5

Be a student in a third o higher year in UGR.
Requirements the mentors must comply with Be a student in a third o higher year in UGR. Be a previous participant in some international programme as a mobility student (Erasmus, Erasmus Mundus, Free mover, Exchange programme of UGR, etc). Be enthusiastic, interested in the cultural diversity and take initiative. Also students who didn’t participate in some international mobility programme can apply to be a mentor but will be selected without priority. 7

Intercultural knowledge course (10 hours via the SWAD platform)
The mentors activites Intercultural knowledge course (10 hours via the SWAD platform) Contact with the buddies before they come to Granada Frequent meetings during the year, and weekly meetings during the first months of stay Help with the administrative issues and the accommodation Cultural activities Optional activities (picking up from the airport, bus or train station, mandatory for mentors who have more than 3 buddies) Curso impartido por un grupo de investigación de la UGR sobre el choque cultural. La realización del curso debe ser previa al inicio de la actividad. Trámites administrativos: Registro en la UGR, envío certificado llegada, acompañarles a las jornadas de recepción, formalización de la matrícula, contacto con los coordinadores para la modificación del acuerdo de estudios en caso necesario. 8

Recognition of 3 credits
Compensation Recognition of 3 credits If the student hasn’t participated in international mobility programmes, he or she will obtain a point for futures calls Certificate European Supplementary Diploma 9

Every mentor must spend approximately 75 hours with their buddies.
Tracking and evaluation of the mentors When the academic course has finished, the mentor must fill in a memory book, which must be signed by the buddies. Every mentor must spend approximately 75 hours with their buddies. Nomination of the mentors
If the students comply with the criteria, they will be enrolled in the SWAD platform. Once enrolled, the students participate in the online intercultural knowledge course The program assistants will help with the distribution of the application forms (both buddies and mentors). 12

Perspectives To consolidate the mentor programme as one of the main university activities, where the students can share their academic, professional, personal and cultural experiences and learn from each other. Increase the implementation of the incoming students and the mentors in voluntary events and local cooperation.
