Amygdala emotion – particularly fear and aggression.
Pathway to the limbic system for sensory impulses – smell processed –involved in recall of emotionally charged experiences PTSD

Hippocampus Hippocampus – store some kinds of memory.
Converts STM to LTM – sends the memories to be stored into frontal and temporal lobe.

Primitive Brain The parts of the limbic system are thought to be the most primitive part of the brain

Important for survival Fight or Flight Finding Food A large section of prehistoric animals brains contain the limbic system Used for hunting and eating prey
