Hale Telescope By: David Bouley and Chris Brown

2 Where Is It? The Hale Telescope is located at the Palomar Observatory in California.

3 The Science Behind It The Hale Telescope and other models alike it have been used to get a better understanding of very far away planets. It took 12 years to build and construction began in 1936.  It is open to tourists year-round and was the largest effective telescope until Hale Telescope has discovered distinct stellar populations and has given us a new understanding of galaxy formation and stellar evolution.

4 Fun Facts Hale Telescope's reflective mirror is 200 inches in diameter. The results of the telescope's findings are transported to a computer where scientists may study them in real time without delays It was named after George Ellery Hale Its equatorial mount is a horseshoe shape, because it gives Hale telescope access to the entire sky, superior to those with regular mounts.

5 Interesting Location Information
Palomar Mountain has become famous due to the Hale Telescope being located there It also contains a State Park, which had campgrounds for adults and children until the mid 1990's when they were closed due to budget cuts.
