Where Is It? The Hale Telescope is located at the Palomar Observatory in California.

The Science Behind It The Hale Telescope and other models alike it have been used to get a better understanding of very far away planets. It took 12 years to build and construction began in 1936. It is open to tourists year-round and was the largest effective telescope until Hale Telescope has discovered distinct stellar populations and has given us a new understanding of galaxy formation and stellar evolution.

Fun Facts Hale Telescope's reflective mirror is 200 inches in diameter. The results of the telescope's findings are transported to a computer where scientists may study them in real time without delays It was named after George Ellery Hale Its equatorial mount is a horseshoe shape, because it gives Hale telescope access to the entire sky, superior to those with regular mounts.
