WWI began when the Archduke of Austria was assassinated, as he was heir to the Austria-Hungary throne
2 different groups fighting each other:
Allies: Russia, Great Britain, France
Later added: USA, Japan, Italy
Central Powers: Germany and Austria-Hungary
Later added: Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria
Russian government collapsed in 1917, leading to them joining the Central Powers

The Ottoman Empire was very xenophobic during WWI
Made a law that allowed for Ottomans to deport any Armenians
A lot of the important battles took place in the Middle East

Not a bad book, but a lot could have been better
Certain areas of the book dragged on for what felt like forever
Would recommend if interested in WWI in the Middle East
Very informative book, however it felt like some information wasn’t necessary
