The Job of a Second Grade Teacher
The job of a teacher is to help students learn new materials as well as be their counselors whenever they need help Teachers have to have the ability to calmly work through any situation that may arise at any given time. They are there to help students become who they want to be later in life and guide them toward the right path to pursue those dreams.
3
What I assumed Need patience Average pay Bachelor’s degree Teaching Credential Need a disciplinary system Need to stay calm in all situations.
4
What I found out Must be comfortable speaking in front of a large group. Student teaching is recommended Average pay ($25,482 - $63,476) in Sacramento area Pay starts off low, gets higher depending upon how long you work in the district. Need to know how to work with special needs students Need to be able to contact parents on their children a lot.
5
What I Learned Student Teaching is very important to get the hands on experience. Teachers take extra classes even after they go through college and get their degree and credential It is very difficult to discipline students in the middle of class. It takes time away from the other students that are there to learn.
6
Second Grade Teaching Must be able to stay calm at all times.
How to converse with student’s parents (conferences) Requires patience Discipline Rewarding well behaved students Meetings with other board members as well as students and parents. Must take extra courses to refresh knowledge.
7
Disadvantages A lot of college and schooling required
Works not only in school, but have to take time out of weekends and own time to grade papers, tests, etc. Average Pay Misbehaving students Parents that quickly blame teachers for their child’s bad grades, etc.
8
Advantages Working with children and teaching them different subjects
Helping a students work through things they may not have been able to do Giving students confidence in themselves and letting them know that they can achieve any goal they set their mind to. Get summer, winter, spring and Thanksgiving breaks off.

How to Get Into the Career Feild

Would I like to pursue this Career?
I would definitely consider pursuing this career. My job shadow was wonderful and I loved working with Mrs. Hanley’s students. This job definitely suits me. The only thing I don not like about the job is the fact that the pay is only average for all the time, work and money spent to get into the career and that it takes nearly five years to get into the career which starts off really slow. Other than that, I would definitely choose this career because working with children is something I love and I would love to have a job I would look forward to every day.
