Morning Breakout Sessions
Sorting Student Work using Math--Math Team: How can we uncover student understanding, or misunderstanding, about key concepts in mathematics? In this session we will be sorting student work to determine how much the students know about the mathematics and discuss some possible teaching implications. Using Video—Seth: An overview of strategies for using video in coaching, based on Focus on Teaching: Using Video for High-Impact Instruction by Jim Knight. We will discuss guidelines and best practices for recording teachers and using the recordings in coaching sessions. How to plan 21st Century PD, Structuring Engaging PD-Laura Collaboration--School Improvement Are your Collaborative Teams Naughty or Nice? Opportunity for TLC PLC leaders to share successes and struggles as leaders of teams. Guiding questions for PLC leaders. “Do we have to like each other to work together?” “Can we have building norms instead of each team having norms?” Elementary Literacy Coaches: Helping teachers use progress monitoring data to make informed decisions about interventions and making changes to interventions for students not on track. Secondary Literacy Coaches: Helping non-English/language arts teachers effectively teach vocabulary. Which words? How to teach? How to Assess?

Jigsaw Coaching Activities
Form Triads that have individuals who have attended coaches’ trainings different from you. For the next 30 minutes, discuss 1-2 take-aways from your professional learning this fall. At 11:45 we will come back as a whole group and share out ideas people felt were helpful.

Afternoon Breakout Sessions
Learning Zone—Doreen: What is your favorite tool from the Learning Zone? How it is helping you in your coaching practices? What questions do you have about using LZ to enhance your coaching practice? Come prepared to learn and share your experiences in the Learning Zone. Coaching Collaborative Teams--SI Team: Help coaches identify barriers on the road to becoming a high functioning collaborative team. -and- Provide resources to help coaches facilitate effective structures and processes within collaborative teams. Elementary Literacy Coaches: Helping teachers use progress monitoring data to make informed decisions about interventions and making changes to interventions for students not on track. Secondary Literacy Coaches: Helping non-English/language arts teachers effectively teach vocabulary. Which words? How to teach? How to Assess? Science to coordinate with the Science PD –Rosemary: The session will provide a short overview of the structure of standards (if needed), a look at a classroom through the lens of our new science standards and sharing of resources.
