2 What is ECI & ECEI? What is Early Childhood Intervention?
Specialised support and services for infants and young children with disability and/or developmental delay and their families Important for the adults who have the deepest relationships and spend the most time with the child to be skilled up to provide intervention on an ongoing basis What is Early Childhood Early Intervention? NDIS approach for children aged 0-6 years Delivered by experienced ECI services 7 Functions

3 ECEI ECEI - 7 Functions Information Gathering and Profile Development Community Connections Initial Supports & responses NDIS Access Recommendations NDIS Plan development NDIS Plan handover NDIS Plan review Some children may only access 1 of the first 3 functions, others will need ongoing NDIS support (functions 4 -7) NDIA tender for ECEI community partners in ACT, SA, parts of Qld & Vic – to be in place from March 2017 (depending on area)

4 ECEI - NSW transition to June 2018
Appointment of ECEI Transition Providers ADHC approaching a selection of existing ADHC funded ECI services currently undertaking ECEI type functions October 2016 for year 1 areas Early 2017 for year 2 areas ‘Opt in’ ECIs will continue to receive a proportion of existing ADHC ECI funding ECEI Transition Providers will be able to deliver IFP supports Will work with ‘existing’ and ‘new’ participants Continued role for all providers working with children NBM – extension to existing 4 ECEI pilots

5 Sector Update Year 1 children have not yet transitioned – full ADHC payments made in July, August, September & October Year 1 children will transition once ECEI is in place Continuity of Support due to residency status – People will be supported as participants in the NDIS Third Party Verification for Early Childhood Supports – exemption for sole traders and small consortia – details at this link
