Title: Reflection 24 June 2018
Today we will be finding out about reflection. You will know you have been successful when you have: Carried out the experiment to find out the path that light travels in and plotted your results on a graph (Level 5) Used your graph to identify patterns in your results and used the correct key terms to summarise them. (Level 6) Used ideas about reflecting to describe some real-life applications of reflections (Level 7/8)

Mirror Reflected ray Incident ray Normal Line
4
Investigating Reflection
Aim: To see how the angle of incident is related to the angle of reflection Ray box
5
Results
6
Now plot a graph of your results
Remember: The dependent variable goes on the x-axis Marks on graphs are awarded for Meaningful title Correctly labelled axes A suitable scale Your graph being big enough Points correctly plotted in pencil A suitable line of best fit
7
Now plot a graph of your results
Angle of reflection/° Angle of incidence/°
8
Conclusion What shape is the graph? What does this mean? What is the relationship between the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection? What problems did you have?
9
The law of reflection When light hits a plane mirror: “Angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.”

Homework Complete ‘The Periscope’ worksheet Remember: Answer in full sentences Use diagrams if they will help your explanation Hand in on FRIDAY
