The Section achieves this mission by providing focused opportunities for collaboration and support for its member committees.

16 Section Initiative Concept

17 For pilot test, we could focus on a single broad topic area, e.g.
Livability Freight Safety Sustainability

18 Dimensions for assessment
Coverage of key aspects of the topic Sufficient detail (granularity) for analysis and decision support (related to sample size…) Timeliness (freshness) Accuracy (validity) Uniformity/consistency (across time and space/geography) Completeness Findability Accessibility Archived for retrospective use Supported by documentation and metadata

19 Grading scheme – illustration*
A data fully meets spectrum of likely user needs/is enabling innovative applications/decisions A- B+ data meets current spectrum of user needs (A-?) B data exists but deficient in one category B- data exists but deficient in up to 2 categories C+ C some data exists but significantly deficient in up to 2 categories; or deficient in more than 2 and less than 4 categories C- D+ D poor data is available, deficient in more than 4 categories, and/or marginally available D- F absence of useful data * At the 2008 retreat we said we couldn’t do this
