FIRST AMERICANS ARRIVED 22,000 YEARS AGO . CAME FROM ASIA OVER A LAND BRIDGE DUE TO ICE AGE . EARLY PEOPLES WERE HUNTER –GATHERERS. ICE AGE ENDED SO DID MIGRATIONS AND PEOPLE ABOUT 10,000 TO 5,000 BECAME FARMERS AND SETTLED DOWN. NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURES DEVELOPED STABLE AND COMPLEX SOCIETIES. THESE PEOPLES HAD NO CONTACT WITH EUROPEANS UNTIL THE 15TH CENTURY. THIS IS WHEN THEIR LIVES CHANGED DRASTICALLY AS RESULT OF THE RENAISSANCE IN EUROPE AND THE EMERGENCE OF EUROPEAN EXPLORERS.

7. The stories heard of Marco Polo’s discoveries in the East intrigued them. They were also anxious to find the spices and rich silks, gold and jewels he wrote about in his book.
Merchants and traders were eager to find the fastest way to get there. The land route Polo had traveled was long and dangerous. His tales inspired explorers to find an alternative route by sea.
Some explorers would seek a route to China by going around the southern tip of Africa. But a few brave souls looked to the west for another route. Such a trip took courage, for no one knew how far west sailors would have to sail to reach Asia or what monsters and terrors might await them far from Europe's shore.
