2 Global Studies and Geography II
This course focuses on the history of the world from the French Revolution through to the present. This is the second year of the Global History curriculum. The course will be will end with the Global History and Geography Regents exam in June. This regents exam will cover material covered during this year and from Global I.

3 The Regents You must pass this regents in order to graduate.
Covers 2 years of material from both Global I and Global II 50 multiple choice questions You are required to write 2 essays Thematic essay DBQ essay

4 What You Will Need 3 Ring binder Something to write with each day

5 Expectations Be on Time!!!
Respect for all members of this classroom at all times Work to the best of your ability each day Appropriate language

6 Grading Tests= 45% Quizzes= 30% Homework/Classwork= 25%

7 9/3 Focus: The primary purpose of Social Studies is to help people develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a democratic society in an interdependent world. Do Now: What is Global Studies?

8 Focus/Do Now/Closure Worksheet
Students are expected to copy the Focus and answer the DO Now questions upon entering the classroom. Students are expected to complete the closure task at the end of class Worksheets will be collected on a regular basis and count as a classwork grade

9 Homework/Classwork Expectations
Written responses to questions are to be answered in full, complete sentences

10 Homework/Classwork Expectations
For example: Question “What impact did the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand have on WWI?” Incorrect way to answer It was the spark which led to the outbreak of WWI. Correct Answer The assassination of Franz Ferdinand led to the outbreak of WWI Stephen King’s “It”

11 Homework/Classwork Expectations
For example: Question Identify one example of an advance made by the ancient Mayans Incorrect answer They had advanced knowledge of astronomy Correct answer The Mayans had advanced knowledge of Astronomy.

Assignments should : be handed in on time be neat and orderly demonstrate understanding of the material being covered Quality work!!!

14 “What do I do if I am absent?”
PowerPoints and daily assignments are posted on my web page each day. Students that are absent are expected to check the web page and get materials they missed.

15 Extra Credit Students can complete extra credit assignments
Students wishing to complete extra credit assignments should discuss this with me.
