2. The Domesday Book
The Domesday Book, or Doomsday Book, is the oldest surviving public record in England.
It is an examination of land, wealth, and other resources.
Originating in the 11th century, upon William of Normandy’s conquest of England.
Its name is a metaphor for Judgement Day.

3. The Book of Exeter
The Book of Exeter is a compilation of English poetry.
Written down before the epic Beowulf.
Estimates of its culmination are generally set in the mid-to-late 900s.
The book was given to Exeter cathedral (its namesake) by Leofric, the first Bishop of Exeter, upon his death in 1072.
Includes elegies such as The Wanderer, The Seafarer, The Wife’s Lament, et cetera.

4. The Magna Carta Originally composed in 1215.
Permitted under King John, who submitted to it following threat of rebellion.
Reissued numerous times throughout English history, notably in 1216, 1217, and
It is the foundation of modern English law, as well as being a reference in the writing of the US Constitution.

5. The Magna Carta (continued)
Magna Carta = the Great Charter.
It is a list of liberties.
It is written in Latin.
The Petition of Right and Habeas Corpus complement the Magna Carta.
