SS2G2 The student will describe the cultural and geographic systems associated with the historical figures in SS2H1 and Georgia’s Creeks and Cherokees. e. Describe how the region in which these historic figures lived affected their lives and compare these regions to the region in which the students live. When teaching SS2G2 b and SS2G2c you will cover the first part of this element (know how the region in which these historic figures lived affected their lives). The only new learning will be comparing/contrasting these regions to our region of Georgia. Limited or Minimum Progress toward achievement of standard (1) Student is not able to compare/contrast our region of Georgia to other regions of Georgia. Progressing toward achievement of standard (2) Student inconsistently compares/contrasts our region of Georgia to other regions of Georgia. Consistently and independently achieves the standard (3) Student consistently and independently compares/contrasts our region of Georgia to other regions of Georgia. Assessment Activities Have students complete a Venn diagram comparing each region of Georgia to our region. Refer to the classroom map of Georgia when comparing/contrasting the regions of Georgia. See Assessment Activities SS2G1a and SS2G1b. Have students identify the regions where the historical figures lived and compare them to our region of Georgia Instructional Notes: Students should be able to: compare/contrast the regions of Georgia. Identify where historical figures lives. Instructional Websites: Word Magnets – Type the words you want to display in the Venn diagram. Then click next and change to select the Venn diagram. Arrange each word in the correct section. 1
