Present facts and details which lead to solutions

4. Goals—Outcomes of Presentation
Determine primary purpose?
Determine secondary purpose?
Focus on motivating audience to action
If selling product, focus on product benefits
If presenting a study, focus on results
If training, focus on process to attain outcome

5. Identify Audience Demographics How will audience use information
Gender, age, level of education, topic familiararity, culture
How will audience use information
Anticipate questions
Consider time

6. Analyze Content One main idea/slide; w/supporting details Organize
Inductive reasoning = facts to conclusion or solution
More difficult to follow; important information may come at end
Deductive reasoning = conclusion or solution to facts
Most common—good for informative presentation
Do not present full page of text
Limit line size to 3-5 words
Limit slide to 3-5 lines
Use empty space effectively

7. Format--Establish and Use It
Be consistent
No more than two font types & styles
Don’t use script typeface
Don’t overuse bold, italics or underline
Remember:
K.I.S. (Keep it Simple)
C.C.C. (Clutter Creates Confusion)
