Geographical position
Shanxi Province, is situated in northern China, and adjacent to Hebei(河北), Henan(河南), It is so-called for its location on the west side of Taihang Mountains(太行山). Covering an area of over 150,000 square kilometers, Shanxi has a population of million, Taiyuan(太原) is the capital city.

Scenic spots and historical sites
the first stop is heng moutain Heng Mountain in Shanxi Province is one of the Five Sacred Mountains (五岳名山)of Taoism(道教). At 2,017 m, it is one of the five tallest peaks in China Proper. Heng Shan in Shanxi Province is sometimes known as the Northern Heng Shan(北岳恒山), and the one in Hunan Province as Southern Heng Shan(南岳衡山) . Both mountains have the same pronunciation in Chinese, and the Southern Heng Shan is also one of the Five Sacred Mountains.

Hanging Temple(悬空寺) The Hanging Temple is a temple built into a cliff(悬崖) (75 m or 246 ft above the ground) near Mount Heng in Hunyuan County, Shanxi province, China. The closest city is Datong, kilometers to the northwest. Along with the Yungang Grottoes, the Hanging Temple is one of the main tourist attractions and historical sites in the Datong area. Built more than 1,500 years ago, this temple is

not only for its location on a sheer(陡峭的) precipice(悬崖) but also because it includes Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian elements. The structure is kept in place with oak (橡木)crossbeams (横梁)fitted into holes and chiseled(凿刻) into the cliffs. The main supportive structure was hidden inside the bedrock(岩床).

Mount Wutai , also known as Wutai Mountain or Qingliang Shan, is located in Shanxi, China. The mountain is home to many of China's most important monasteries(修道院) and temples. Mount Wutai is home to 53 sacred monasteries, and they were inscribed as a UNESCO (联合国教科文组织)World Heritage Site in 2009.

It takes its name from its unusual topography, consisting of five rounded peaks (North, South, East, West, Central), of which the North peak, called Beitai Ding or Yedou Feng, is the highest, and indeed the highest point in northern China

Yungang Grottoes(云冈石窟)
the third stop is yungang grottoes The Yungang Grottoes are ancient Chinese Buddhist temple grottoes near the city of Datong in the province of Shanxi. They are excellent examples of rock-cut architecture and one of the three most famous ancient Buddhist sculptural (雕刻的)sites of China. The others are Longmen and Mogao.

The Qiao Compound(乔家大院)
The Qiao Compound is located 30 kilometers north west of the historic Pingyao city, China. It is famous for being the chief location in the film Raise the Red Lantern. Begun during the reign (统治)of the Qing Dynasty's Emperor Qianlong (in 1756) and finished in the 18th century, it is a courtyard estate covering 9000 square meters and having 313 rooms with 4000 square meters within 6 large courtyards and 19 smaller courtyards. Its original Chinese name was Zai Zhong Tang (在中堂).

Architects consider it to be one of the finest remaining examples of imposing private residences in northern China. It has been converted into a museum and has many period furnishings. It is the residential compound of well-known financier Qiao Zhiyong (乔致庸1818—1907), who is the most famous member of the Qiao family. A 2006 Mainland Chinese TV serial, Qiao's Grand Courtyard, was also shot here.

Special diet the first stop is flour sculpture In North China's Shanxi
province, flour is a main material for the food, and there are more than a hundred types of food made from flour in the area. While makingfood, people hundreds of years ago tried to make it beautiful, as well as delicious. They made the steamed bread or other kinds of cake into different shapes. And these cakes and breads are the so-called "flour sculpture(面塑)" today.

Shanxi pasta(面食) has a long history, from the available test date, there are two thousand years of history. Shanxi has wide range of pasta, Such as noodle, ramen(拉面), Ge Pei-face, push Wowo, enema(灌肠). Hands to cook, but also by dancing confused guise, so dizzying. Pasta well documented(考证) as many as 280 in Shanxi alone.
