What is a base & exponent?
Exponent- The number of times the base is multiplied by itself base Base- The term being multiplied

Product of Powers Definition: To multiply two powers that have the same base, add the exponents. Example:

Quotient of Powers Definition: To divide two powers that have the same base, subtract the exponents. Example:

Power of a Power Definition: To find the power of a power, multiply the exponents. Example:

Zero Exponent Definition: Any nonzero number to the zero power is 1.

Negative Exponent Definition: Any number to a negative power is 1 divided by the number to the power made positive. Example:

Each base appears exactly once. There are no powers of powers. All fractions are in simplest form. *In general, deal with coefficients first when simplifying.*
