Our Story

3. Who are we?
Parents partnering with students, teachers & counselors who have compassion and motivation to make a difference
Our mission:
To prevent youth suicide through programs and activities that empower kids and young adults to help each other
To build a community of support and resources from which we can provide hope for those who feel hopeless

4. How? Awareness Activities Outreach in our schools and communities
Reduce the stigma by encouraging open dialogue
Provide a platform for kids to tell their story
Activities
Empower kids to come up with their own activities that stimulates them and helps others
Builds a vested interest and dedication to making a change in their own school community
Encourage social change through a change in behavior
Builds self-esteem, boost confidence
Enables renewed interest and purpose in life
Make it ok to talk about suicide, a commonly addressed topic so students realize they’re not alone, there are others going through the same thing and they won’t feel shy to keep their struggles to themselves. Create new channels for them to express themselves. Art projects, gallery, blog. Many don’t trust adults and will therefore turn to other teens.
Programs that help others understand what it’s like. Programs that encourage respect and acceptance of others. Empower kids to want to help and know they can make a difference. Engage those who struggle with activities that give them purpose.

Mission Statement –
A community of students, staff, and parents, that wants to provide a safe haven for suicidal youth. We want to see past the mask to provide acceptance and ensure that everyone matters.

9. Acceptance of Others Scholarship Award
$1,000 scholarship to student who consistently:
Demonstrates through their actions, acceptance and respect of others
Provides unconditional support to those who need it
Seeks out and embraces uniqueness and sees value in every individual
Is not afraid to stand up for what’s right and speaks up against bullies
Rules
Nomination by peer or teacher
Requires min 2 events demonstrating above traits
Min 2 witnesses to each event
