Perhaps the most import feature of Notes is its replication engine. This allows data from a Notes database to be shared over a Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), using a wide range of protocols. Users may also share data using plain old ordinary asynchronous dial. up. Notes automatically handles all facets of the communication and replication of data between the various sites. It also recognizes and flags any documents that contain replication errors.
