The analysis of the teaching materials
About the unit. The theme of this unit is Amazing people,in which many amazing people are mentioned in this unit.The teacher lets the students tell something about some famous people such as identification,education,experience,and their contributions to the world.By talking about these famous people,the students will know the good qualities to become a famous person,and try to work hard at study and form good habits.The main language drills are designed and carried out on the ground of the theme.Students usually show their interests in the theme,which is good for developing their abilities and skills.

About the period. My lesson is the second period of the whole unit covering pre-reading, reading and comprehension of the text. For this reading passage Amazing people, which is about a famous person---Howard Carter. I intend to help Ss deal with some important words and expressions for a better understanding about the passage,some difficult sentences involved in different tenses which are related to the Grammar are also needed explaining. So two periods are needed,This is the first period,which focuses on the understanding of the passage.Next period we will deal with the languages points.

Different tenses are used in the passage, students may feel confused while understanding the text. So this period I am intended to help improve the Ss’ reading abilities and let them have a better understanding of the passage.
