2 LESSON 655: SAMSON’S FINAL EXPLOIT AND DEATH
MEMORY VERSE: ‘’ And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O LORD GOD, remember me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes” – Judges 16: 28 TEXT : Judges 16: 22-31

3 SUMMARY (1) In the previous lesson we learnt that:
Samson allowed his weakness to persist and that led to his destruction. He landed on the laps of Delilah where His life and ministry were terminated. His refusal to heed to God’s law and godly counsel brought him reproach, defeat and pain. As seen from Samson’s misadventure, anointing and divine exploits are not substitutes for a godly marriage and marriage preserves purity.

4 SUMMARY (2) In our study today we’ll look at:
The danger of misplaced priority: Samson’s ability to do exploits with a besetting sin should not confuse us as believers. It is possible to perform miracles and still miss heaven. We shouldn’t misplace the priority of ensuring that our names are in the book of life with miracles and deliverance. We must pay attention to holiness of life more than exploits Samson’s eventual return to God and cry for help: As long as he kept his Nazarite vow, God’s presence and power was mighty upon him

5 DISCUSSION

6 QUESTION 1 Mention some exploits of Samson in spite of his besetting sin of lust Judges 14:6 Judges 14:9 Judges 14:19 Judges 15:5

7 QUESTION 2 From Samson’s experience, mention the consequences of besetting sin for those who fail to repent Romans 11: 22 Proverbs 6: 26

8 QUESTION 3 What lesson does the prayer of Samson teach sinners and backsliders today? Judges 16:28-30 Luke 15:18-24

9 QUESTION 4 What lessons do we learn from the scripture’s testimony about Samson? Hebrews 11: 32-34

10 CONCLUSION Warfare in the New Testament is different; believers should not pray for vengeance on their enemies but know that vengeance belongs to God Death is inevitable but does not need to be violent/shameful. What matters is the final resting place which is heaven. It is the will of God that no sinner/backslider should die in sin but repent and be saved. We need to examine ourselves constantly and maintain a high level of sobriety, discipline and holiness so we do not become a castaway. Success in life and ministry requires us to keep looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith.

11 TIME TO PRAY!
