Getting Map Ready Need a plan Cities abbreviations
Cities numbering scheme Cities with no districts voted at large Cities with districts voted by districts Cities with districts voted at large

Making Block Table Changes
Query each city and change city number and WRD or CWD column to your new naming scheme

Use Current Block Table

City With Districts Voted At Large
551 is City 5 and District 1

Update CWD or WRD Column

Make sure you have correct column

Build New GEPARTS Table
Open GEPARTS table Table Maintenance – Rename Add old to the name Save

Block Table Open your current block table Go Table Update Column
Table to Update - select your block table Column to Update - Select Grp Get Value from Table – select block table Value: put in “” (quote quote) this will leave your Grp column blank

Build New Grp Table Go to GeoElections Mapmaker Precinct and Grp
Name as GEPARTS This will put your numbering back to .0,.0,.2 for your precinct groups Check your precincts to see if they are how they need to be Your ready to test in VR

System Maintenance System Code Tables Districts - District Types Look to make sure you have CTY and WRD or CWD setup already

Click on Districts District _Type – scroll to WRD or CWD (this list will be your old numbers, you need to add your new

District Number = WRD or CWD City Code is your City Number
Description could by City Name Short Description is what’s printed on voter cards

Print Precinct Parts Open Voters – cancel search screen – voters-reports – Precinct List for One District

District Type – select CTY District Number – select city number that’s changing

These are all the parts to City 5, which is district 1

Reassigning Precinct Parts
Go to the Precinct Module Precinct Maintenance Select Precinct from list and OK Select Precinct and group number from list (double click) Change WRD or CWD number to match new naming scheme, by selecting down arrow and picking the correct number Do this for all Precinct Parts affected

Delete Old Out of Districts

Do not be surprised when you go and delete an old District Number, that it tells you that you still have precinct parts attached to it. Someone from VR will have to manually remove those precinct parts for you. We still had precincts that were deleted from the system 2 years ago.
