Key Points for the Sugar Trade
National supply will increasingly come from only two states : Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra The role of trade has become primarily that of logistics management Financing and holding of sugar inventory is completely in the hands of the sugar mills due to stock limits on the traders However this has reduced the risk of the traders and increased the risk of the producers The overall sugar market is growing slowly but institutional sales are increasing and household demand is decreasing Branded refined and specialty sugars will be a much more significant part of the overall household demand
