Establishing some good habits!
Arrive promptly – lessons start as soon as the children come in at 8.55am Be prepared by having full PE kit, homework and reading book in school every day Get into good homework routines Please make sure everything is labelled Holidays in term time can not be sanctioned by school; attendance is very important

Homework in Year 5 Your child should be reading every day. Continue to hear them read; ask lots of questions, challenge them to read different authors and genres, show an interest in what they are reading. It’s time now to know all multiplication tables off by heart – lots of regular practice required! English homework, including grammar, vocabulary, spellings every Wednesday for the following Wednesday Maths homework every Monday for Friday. Additional homework will include research for specific topics and learning lines for the Christmas production This homework should total no more than 2 ½ hours per week. Please talk to us if it is taking longer than this.

Trip to Tatton Park to study the life of Anglo Saxons and Vikings Autumn 2 Topic; All The World’s A Stage! Taking the leading role in our school’s Christmas Production

Spring Term Spring 1 Topic; My Family And Other Animals
Science focus- lifecycles, Art- Henri Rousseau, English- animal reports Spring 2 Topic; The Final Frontier Science – Earth and Space Planetarium

Summer Term Summer 1 Topic; Force of Nature Science topic- Forces
Preparation for residential in Hawkshead near Windermere Summer 2 Topic; Greece Is The Word History focus- Ancient Greeks Also: Hawkshead assembly for Year 5, swimming on Monday mornings until Whit hols.

Throughout the year Daily English and maths lessons
Maths and English are cross-curricular where ever possible and links are constantly being made Guided group reading to focus on comprehension skills All other areas of the curriculum may have specific focus and different times of the year SMSC and PSHE are constantly present Swimming in Summer term- a letter will be sent out to remind you closer to the time.
