CHÂTEAU D’ARCINS HAUT-MÉDOC MODIFIEZ LE STYLE DU TITRE 17°C Merlots: From October 7th Cabernet Sauvignons: From October 15th Late vintage. years Spring was cold and rainy, and vigilance was needed to detect potential fungal diseases. 13% vol 2 hour July was chilly, but August was hot with occasional heatwaves September was hot and dry, helping to reduce disparities in ripeness. Merlot: 55% Cabernet-Sauvignon: 45% A very deep, purple colour – the sign of a good, dense nose. « The 2012 vintage gave us a very pleasant surprise. The weather caused complications at the start, but we very carefully monitored the development of phenolic ripeness, and once the grapes were ripe they showed good potential, both in colour and structure. Extraction was kept at a gentle level to produce a round, elegant vintage. » The nose develops appealing notes of very ripe fruit and precious wood. A rich, vinous palate with sophisticated tannins and a tight structure, lifted by notes of eucalyptus, adding freshness and complexity. Another excellent wine! CHÂTEAU D’ARCINS HAUT-MÉDOC MODIFIEZ LE STYLE DU TITRE 17 °C Merlot: 1st - 6th October Cabernet: 6th – 10th October The year was divided into two very distinct ‘seasons’: the growing season which got off to a dank, cold start, and the hot, sunny weather that followed at the end of summer and beginning of autumn. These sharply contrasting conditions have shaped the character of 2014’s wines. 5 à 12 ans 13 % vol 2 heures Merlot: 50% Cabernet-Sauvignon: 50% Cool temperatures inhibited shoot growth; growth was particularly slow in April and May as both months were cold and damp. Château D’Arcins 2014 shows a sumptuous deep purple colour. Appealing notes of black fruit and mocha on the nose. As the weather warmed up the vines began to grow more rapidly, notably from June 10th onwards. June remained warm and sunny. « When the grape harvest is of such high quality, winemaking is an absolute delight. It was a pleasure to blend the mellow, fruit-packed Merlots with the Cabernet Sauvignons which had been helped along no end by the Indian summer. They give the Château d’Arcins wines good depth of colour, along with complexity on the nose and density on the palate. » Temperatures fell again in July, and growth slowed once more. A powerful palate with elegant tannins, brightened by notes of eucalyptus adding freshness and complexity. There was little rainfall as grapes ripened. September and October weather was exceptionally dry and sunny, and unlike the right bank, the left bank was spared September’s 50mm rainstorm. Very Cab Dry and fresh on the palate, not a great deal of substance but they have made a harmonious whole. » 15 « À parts égales entre cabernet et merlot, cet Arcins démontre une progression en profondeur plus qu’en finesse de tannin. L’ensemble est charnu et frais, de bonne intensité, de la tension. »
