2. Once upon a time there was a Pharaoh and a Queen who lived in a palace along the side of the Nile River.

3. They wanted a child so much that they prayed to Hathor, the goddess of love, joy, and protection. One day the Queen had a baby. They had a girl and named her Jendayi.

4. The Pharaoh and the Queen felt so blessed and so happy
The Pharaoh and the Queen felt so blessed and so happy. They invited everyone they knew to a feast.

5. People gave wonderful gifts to Jendayi like beautiful jewelry, royal clothes, and dainty slippers.

6. The Ancient Egyptian gods were going to give special gifts to Jendayi
The Ancient Egyptian gods were going to give special gifts to Jendayi. There were ten gods and goddess with different powers. The first god had the power to make anyone beautiful. “I have given Jendayi her inner and outer beauty” said the god.

7. The second god had the power to make anyone smart and intelligent
The second god had the power to make anyone smart and intelligent. He closed his eyes and sang a song in Ancient Egyptian language. Then he said “I have given Jendayi her intuition and intelligence.”

8. All the other gods gave their gifts except one god that had the power to make people protected and made sure they did not get hurt or wounded very badly.

9. Then a horrible fog storm came so that no one could see….......

10. An evil god had awoke and entered the big room
An evil god had awoke and entered the big room. He sang a song in the Ancient Egyptian language. Then he announced that he had just cast a curse on Jendayi. He said the curse would be fulfilled on Jendayi’s 16th birthday, when she would get bitten by a cobra snake and would fall into a deep sleep.

11. The pharaoh and the queen were so upset that they banished all snakes from all of Egypt.

12. After many years passed, it was Jendayi’s 16th birthday
After many years passed, it was Jendayi’s 16th birthday. A grand celebration was planned complete with special entertainment….a man who had trained animals.

13. During the show, the man brought out a cobra snake while the guests were drinking and eating. They didn’t even notice the snake. The snake bit the man so that he threw it on the ground and the snake slithered right up to Jendayi!

14. She immediately fell asleep…and stayed asleep for 4 years
She immediately fell asleep…and stayed asleep for 4 years. Finally prince Jahmal came along, looking for a princess. He kissed her, she awoke, and they got married and lived happily ever after.
