Signing of Cummins National Guideline Standards. Coordination with state of Tennessee for $30,000 for training & development. Unique Regional Program – Region II Bucks County Community College Chef Apprenticeship Associate Degree Program 6,000 hours of supervised on the job learning 63 college credits aligned with on the job learning Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship Associate of Arts Degree Certification from the American Culinary Federation All graduates enjoy full time employment as Chefs The community college is not the Apprenticeship Sponsor. The community college developed a consortium of local businesses that individually register apprenticeship programs and apprentices. The community college is a true workforce education partner. The community college recruits new consortium members and the Office of Apprenticeship registers new apprenticeship programs and apprentices. This is a win/win model. Unique Regional Program – Region III Apprenticeship Carolina
Collaboration between Apprenticeship Carolina, OA & CVS to register 200 CVS facilities. Growth of registered apprenticeship programs from 90 sponsors to 523 (481%). Expected goal is to have 2000 registered programs by 2020 Growth of registered apprentices from 777 to over 3100 In 2007, 22 South Carolina counties had registered apprenticeship programs—now all 46 counties have registered apprenticeship programs Reaching out to non-traditional sectors Dedicated to growing South Carolina’s skilled workforce, raising the productivity/competitiveness of the state, increasing the employability of the citizen’s and ultimately enhancing the quality of life for all. Unique Regional Program – Region IV Colorado Statewide Ironworkers JATC
Colorado Steel Erectors Association and representatives of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local Union #24. New $2.3 million, 18,000 square foot training facility was built in Denver in 2010, utilizing green construction practices and materials and contains 17 energy efficient next generation multi-process welding machines and an energy efficient plasma arc cutter. Recognized as an AWS testing center. Over 60 technical courses are delivered at the facility, many with third-party certifications attached along with over 40 Journeyman upgrade courses. In partnership with the Colorado Community College (CCC) system up to 48 credits will be granted toward an AAS degree upon presentation of a OA Certificate of Completion from this program . The remaining 12 credits for the AAS may be obtained from any CCC. JATC was instrumental in implementing an apprentice prep program using the Multi-craft Core Curriculum developed by local apprenticeship committees with the Building and Construction Trades (BCT). In partnership with the Colorado BCT Council, Building Trades Training Directors Association (CBTTDA), Emily Griffith Technical College and the Denver Office of Economic Development this program provides an intro to apprenticeship. In collaboration with this JATC the Colorado Department of Labor and the CBTTDA has built and maintains a page dedicated to Registered Apprenticeship in Colorado. The site lists all currently registered programs, a brief occupational description, and contact information. A general overview of apprenticeship is also provided. Unique Regional Program – Region V Detroit Registered Apprenticeship Pilot Program (D-RAPP)
Objective – Enroll and ensure success for 20 unemployed City of Detroit residents through a diverse partnership led by Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC). Background – Detroit’s economy has been depressed, the D-RAPP program was created to develop career paths and create a competitive high wage/high skilled workforce through Registered Apprenticeships in the 21st Century. Program Description – D-RAPP is a comprehensive assessment, readiness and placement program with follow-up support for newly registered apprentices with DESC. Apprenticeship Program Agreement – Employers are required to register with USDOL/OA. Apprentices must complete an apprenticeship agreement and a local training agreement. WIA Leveraged Assistance- DESC provides assistance to sponsors and apprentices through WIA Individual Training Account (ITA) funds. Subsidizing Sponsor $2000 for each apprentice for tools and supplies. Subsidizing up to $3000 for RTI for each apprentice.
