Your objectives: For this task, you will:
decide what makes an effective classified advert make a classified advert of your own choose a car from a range of adverts and budgets buy new equipment for your car plan a journey, including: how far you will travel how much fuel you will need how long it will take which route you will take.

What do you need to know? In your groups, use the question cards to decide what information you will need from a classified advert. Under each question heading, use the sticky notes to list the different things you will need to know if you plan to buy the car.

Look at your own adverts
Use the labels provided. Label the features of a good classified advert on the example which you have been given. Report your findings back to the group.

Choose your cars! Use car trader magazines or websites
Use the list of prices. With your partner or group, find a car for each price. Record your findings in the table provided.

Customise your car Choose your favourite car from the list you have made. Do an internet search for companies selling ‘car accessories’. You have a budget of £500. Buy some toys for your car! Look at: SatNav and GPS Car Styling Travel and Touring Make a list of what you want, and its price, in a Word document.

Time for a road trip! Now you’ve got your car, it’s time to plan a journey. You’re going to Alton Towers! Do an internet search for ‘route planners’ and use one of the suggested websites.

And another thing… You need to work out how much the fuel will cost you. Look for the AVERAGE price of petrol. Do an internet search for ‘find petrol prices’ and use one of the suggested websites.
