5 More than “Mere Men” I Corinthians 3:1-3 –
(NKJ) “are you not carnal and behaving like mere men” (KJ) “are you not carnal and walk as men” (ESV) “are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way” (NIV) “… are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men”

6 More than “Mere Men” Mere – being nothing more nor better than
(He is still a mere child.) being nothing more than something specified

7 More than “Mere Men” We are to be More

8 We are to be More I Peter 2:9-10 –
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

9 We are to be More I Peter 2:11-3:7 – (2:11-12) Conduct Honorable
Glorify God (2:13-17) Submit to Government Lord’s Sake, God’s Will, & as Bondservants of God (2:18-25) Servants & Masters Commendable & Following Christ’s Example (3:1-7) Husbands & Wives Spouse may be Won & Prayers not Hindered

10 We are to be More I Peter 2:9-10 –

“you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people… you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation”

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”

14 We are to be Different II Corinthians 6:16-7:1 –
“Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord”

15 We are to be Different Romans 12:1-2 –
“and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

16 We are to be Different I Peter 4:1-4 –
“In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.”

17 More than “Mere Men” We are to be More We are to be Different We are to be like Christ

18 We are to be Like Christ I Peter 2:21 –
“Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” Hebrews 4:14-15 – “was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

19 We are to be Like Christ Ephesians 2:12-15 –
(13) “the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (15) “speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ”

20 Conclusion God does not want us to be like “Mere Men”.
We are to be More We are to be Different We are to be like Christ

21 Conclusion I Kings 2:1-3 – “… prove yourself a man. And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statues, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn”

22 God’s Plan of Salvation
Hear the Word of God (Mark 16:15) Believe in Jesus (Mark 16:16) Repent of Sins (II Peter 3:9) Confess Faith in Christ (Matthew 10:32) Be Baptized in Water (Acts 2:38) Remain Faithful & Grow (Revelations 2:10) If err, repent and pray to God (I John 1:9)

23 Lord’s Supper Partaking of the Bread: I Corinthians 11:24 –
“and when He has given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

24 Lord’s Supper Partaking of the Fruit of the Vine:
I Corinthians 11:26 – “In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

25 Giving I Corinthians 9:7 –
(7) “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
