Tattoo documentary Kieran Sherwood
2
Synopsis The documentary will be about tattoos, but the opinions on them and why people have these opinions, trying to see what ages and gender are most popular with what views. But will also show artist’s different views and why they think people have their views.
3
Script The whole video will be voiced over in parts and also have interviews as well. ‘What did you have to do to get your qualifications to become a artist?’ ‘Why do you believe people have their different opinions on tattoos, such as why they don’t like them? Or why are people obsessed with them?’ ‘Do you think that social media and Tv shows have altered peoples opinions on tattoos?’ ‘do any of your friends or family share their opinions on tattoos with you?’ ‘Why do you think people have negative views on tattoos?’ ‘even though its one of the most popular forms of art.’ I will include information from the history of tattoos, how they started and why they started, then including interviews with random people from the public to see their views on tattoos.

Risk assessment Location and hazard Possible injuries
Who is vulnerable Risk: Risk x severity =score Preventative measures Tripping over anywhere with camera Broken camera, cuts, bruises myself Low Watch where I’m walking Rain/water damage anywhere Damage equipment Electric shock Keep cover on equipment. Arguments with public None unless it gets worse low Stay calm Wires whilst in tattoo studio Tripping- bruises, cuts anyone Keep wires tidy and taped away

Influences I watched a few short documentaries on you tube,
ranging between 10 – 20 minutes in length. This one Stuck out the most to me as it included all of the same features I was hoping to include in my short documen- tary. Including vox-pops, interviews with artists, getting clips of celebrities and using them to show the influential power they have.
6
Location recce This is Magnum circus tattoo studio in
Cheltenham, this is inside the studio with a map view as well.
7
Crew The only crew I will have throughout this will be myself as I am working alone, but I will use one of my friends on the day I get a tattoo to film the experience for me as I wont be able to operate the camera as I will be getting a tattoo, apart from that one day I will be the only one in the crew for this documentary.

What are your opinions on tattoos?
This shows that over half of people have a positive opinion on tattoos that took this survey which is useful as it shows people could up for watching a documentary on tattoos, but also having to look out for people who don’t as still quite a lot, over 30% don’t like tattoos, so to get over this I will show more non-biased clips and interviews as it will engage more people rather than showing all of the positive parts of tattooing.
10
What was your reasoning for the last answer?
‘I think tattoos are a very good way for people to express themselves’ ‘You can express yourself through tattoos’ ‘Just like the fact you have something you love on your body for life’ ‘ugly and unnatural’ ‘I have always wanted tattoos and have been interested in them’ "You wouldn't put a Bumper sticker on a Bentley” These are great as I can include them in the documentary showing peoples own opinions from this survey, which is good as it shows primary research and peoples genuine questions.
11
Why do you believe people a lot of people don’t agree or don’t like tattoos?
‘People often associate tattoos with gang culture, as this is often how people with tattoos have been displayed in the media, also because of this tattoos are also seen as unprofessional’ ‘They grew up in a different generation’ ‘Because people think when you get older they won't look as good, or some people just don't like the pain.’ ‘they no longer have a purpose. They are usually tacky or meaningless’ ‘Cause they think it's a "bad thing, and associates with people who don't do well in society’ This Is the same as the previous slide, using these to show peoples opinions and giving a little bit of primary research, then back it up secondary research from the internet and books
12
Would you ever consider getting a tattoo and reasoning?
This question only had one no in the answers, but all that answered yes gave very brief and similar answers, such as having meaning or just want one. This information if helpful in the way that I can show the percentage of answers of yes and no, rather than showing the brief answers.
13
Why would you get a tattoo?
This is good to show as it shows percentages of why people would get a tattoo, it might have been better to include more reasons for why but this is fine as enough people answered the closest thing to why if there's wasn’t on the list.
14
Do you think tattoos look scruffy or un-professional?
‘I think it depends on the form of the tattoo, if it is some thing rude out vulgar then it can certainly be unprofessional, however I'd it is relatively harmless then I do not beloved it would be scruffy or unprofessional’ some tattoos can look scruffy depending on the quality of the artist
15
Do you think the age limit is high enough for a tattoo?
This is good as it could show me what information I would need to include in the documentary, such as facts that people don’t know about as much, like the age limit and what percentage of people under the legal age actually have tattoos or how many people get underage tattoos when the get their first tattoo.
