Kyrene Student Acceptable Use Policy

2 What is an Acceptable Use Policy?
An Acceptable Use Policy is an agreement that both students and teachers sign to make sure that all technology tools and resources are used properly for educational purposes. By signing the Kyrene Student handbook you are agreeing to all of the student responsibilities you will learn about in this presentation. So let’s find out what your responsibilities are as you use technology at school.

Use the Internet & School Technology Tools for Educational Uses Only I will use the Internet and school technology tools to complete school work only. • I will play education-related games only under the supervision of my teacher.

4 Kyrene Student Technology and Internet Use Responsibilities
I will not retrieve, send or display offensive images or messages, insult, threaten or harass others, post anonymous communication or use the Internet or District network resources for illegal, inappropriate, or obscene purposes. I will not seek to gain access to unauthorized resources or entities, District data systems or data, or the data and files of others. • I will report any misuse of the Internet or District network resources to my teacher.

5 Internet Safety and Use
I will follow all Internet safety and etiquette rules while I am working online. I will not give anyone my personal information on the Internet or through . Full Name School Home Address Phone Number Username and Password • I will report any misuse of the Internet to my teacher. • I will tell my teacher immediately if I come across any information that makes me feel uncomfortable or that I know I should not be looking at. I will not subscribe to or purchase services or products through the Internet.

Copyright and Fair Use I will follow all Copyright and Fair Use Guidelines. I will not illegally download, copy, or plagiarize information from electronic sources. • I will make sure to cite all sources I use when using images, information, or other resources retrieved online.

7 Kyrene Student Technology and Internet Use Responsibilities
Using School Technology Equipment • I will not modify workstation settings (i.e., desktop background, pointer options, adding gadgets). I will not download or install any software or program on any computer. • I will not download music or video files without an educational purpose and teacher permission. I will not destroy, or attempt to alter or destroy, any data, hardware or software.

Protecting Your Log In and Personal Files I will use a unique password to log in. I will not share my username or password with others, and I will not use another person’s username/password. Keep Private Keep Private

Possible Consequences for Violating the Guidelines • Your parent(s) will be notified. • You will have to pay to repair or replace intentionally damaged equipment. • You could have your Internet access suspended or taken away. • You could have your access to network privileges suspended or taken away. • You could have your computer access suspended or taken away. • You could be suspended from school.
