1. Welcome to Kindergarten!

2. Drop off
Come to the kindergarten drop off area not the front entrance of the school. Even if you have older children, you will still drop them off and pick them up with the kindergarten student at this location.
Please do not use your cell phone during this time and watch the traffic director for when to move forward and stop.
Do not get out of your car, put it in park, and someone will escort your child to and from the vehicle.
Talk to your child extensively about this routine. They need to know how important it is to wait for an adult and to stay in the vehicle.

3. Home/School Communication
Red Folders
-Check this folder daily
-Send all notes/money/permission forms here
-Keep in backpack
-Talk to your children about the folder
(don’t take anything out!)

4. Activity Each teacher has a different activity schedule.
These schedules will be posted on the teachers website that can be accessed from the Petal Primary website.
Activities include: PE, Creativity Lab, Music, Library, Computer, Character Ed.
On PE days, please have your child wear tennis shoes.

5. Snack Please send a snack for your child daily.
Try to encourage a healthy snack
No candy
Water/Juice only
1 snack
Put in a snack bag with your child’s name on it every day. Preferably a zip lock bag or a separate bag other than their lunch box. They get very confused by this.

6. The Classroom Everything is TINY! Bathrooms- (change of clothes)
Cubbies- regular sized backpacks, names on jackets, backpacks, etc.

7. Lunch Students get 20 minutes for lunch.
We will help them adjust to the cafeteria and being independent as needed.

9. Recess Students will get 2 recesses. (20 minutes each)
Students will eat snack during 1st recess.
Please provide 1 quick snack for your child.
Stay in your car: Please do not try to talk to your child when you see them out at recess. This is for the safety of all students

10. Please have your decals hanging for the traffic director to see.
Dismissal
Early Buses dismiss at 2:10
Pickups dismiss at 2:15
Late Buses dismiss around 2:50

Please remember to stay in the vehicle, put it in park, and watch the traffic director.
Someone will escort your child to you at that time.
Talk to your child about waiting with the adults.
If you have a change in their transportation, we have to have a hand written note from you with those new instructions. We can not allow changes to be made via s, texts, or phone calls.
