3. Conclusions.
Accurate & precise meas. relative to lateral offsets were made by Panduit. N > 3000 ferrules.
MMF dim. & tols. were taken from TIA std.(Jan.’98). Distributions of dim. that relate to lateral offsets were determined.
Simulation. Includes Panduit meas., MMF std., + ferrule & fiber rotations within the connector.
Worst case: Supplier 4 has prob.>/= 95% (+/- 2*SD) that lateral offsets </= 6.11m. For MMF connectors in the field, based on this simulation, prob.>/= 95% that lateral offsets </= 6.0m for all suppliers. See Slide 11 for corresponding +/- 3*SD lateral offsets.
