Food chain is a system in which energy passes from one organism to another. The energy moves from producers to consumers to decomposers.

The energy in an ecosystem comes from the sun.

3. Producer
Producers are organisms that make their own food using the energy in sunlight. (Green plants, algae)

4. Consumer
Consumers are organisms who cannot make their own food. (Birds, mammals, etc.) They get their energy from food made by other organisms.

5. Decomposer
Decomposers break down dead and decaying matter into wastes and simpler substances. (Worms, bacteria, fungi). They are recyclers.
