B1b: links with the wider world and enrichment activities

In Y8, students spend half a term investigating life in Kibera in Kenya, using images, radio broadcasts, role play, video and NGO resources. At the end of the topic, students complete two tasks: to market a property in a shanty town by considering all the positive aspects of life there, and an enquiry on changes taking place in the shanty town and how they affect residents’ quality of life.
