What is Dual Credit? Opportunity for high school students to take college level courses at their campus Academic core courses are transferable to Texas public universities Grades earned in a College Now class go on 2 transcripts. Your high school transcript and your HCC college transcript

Classes to be offered at Elkins
English 4 CN – 100 spots – earn 6 credits US History – 60 spots – earn 6 credits College Algebra – 60 spots – earn 3 credits This math class is for students NOT going into a STEM or medical program in college

What are the requirements to be able to take a Dual Credit class?
Students must meet TSI requirements for dual credit EOC English 2 – minimum score of 4000 (Any English based course) EOC Algebra 1 – minimum score of 4000 (Any math based course) SAT a minimum of 480 verbal and 530 math (all dual credit) ACT 23 composite with a 19 in the English section and 19 math section (all dual credit) If students don’t meet these requirements they may test at HCC to determine if they meet TSI or college readiness standards

How do I get started? Apply to HCC
Hccs.edu Click admissions then how to apply You will be on the Enrolling to HCC screen Step 1: click hccs.edu/application You will be on the on-line admissions screen Click Dual Credit and continue You will need SSN and DOB to continue If you do not have a SSN let Ms Powis know – you can still take the class!

When you complete the registration, you will receive an ID# called a W# that you will need to enroll, order your transcript, etc. You must this # to Ms Powis no later than April 16th to be considered for the class. At this point, you are almost finished. HCC will mass enroll students in the actual class in August once all schedule changes are finished. Please be aware that the College Now classes are capped by HCC and there are limited spots. If you do not get your part done and sent to Ms Powis by 4/16th or EARLIER, you will lose out on this opportunity! If you receive 504 services you must contact HCC’s office of disabilities.

Do I have to pay for a College Now Class?
NO! Starting this fall all students will have this opportunity for FREE! All students must pay for books

Can I drop a College Now Class?
Yes, but it must be before the first day of class or a W (withdrawal) will appear on your college transcript. You have only 6 total W’s in your entire college career.
