Week of 4/24 Jobs Powerpoint
ALSO FOUND ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE MUCHIN WIKI

What this is… As Spring approaches, we (staff) wanted to reach out more about summer opportunities and businesses that may be hiring. Each week in advisory, if there is time, we’ll show this PowerPoint and allow students to take notes or ask questions. This PowerPoint will also be posted on the WIKI each week as well- if you see something that looks neat, look it up on the WIKI tonight!

How I put this together… By Mr. Connolly
Job SEARCHING does not have to be as difficult as you might think. Here are three ways you can search out job opportunities on your own if this powerpoint just isn’t enough for you. Any time you go to a store or restaurant.. Before you leave, just quickly ask the front desk or cashier “Hey, are you all hiring at the moment or possibly for the summer?” If your resume is not full of experience, this is a quick way for a business to see your face and your demeanor. If you know you’re a ‘people person’, this can be a great way to quickly snag a job! Use Twitter and facebook! If you search twitter for “Chicago hiring” and scroll down, you may find a LOT of top level jobs… but you’ll also find jobs that don’t require a ton of experience and may be a good fit for you. Take a walk (or a drive). Believe it or not, many businesses will simply have “now hiring” signs in their window. Wear a decent shirt and pants and walk in for more information!

Let them know that you’re eager to learn and that you are interested in working for them and picking up shifts whenever needed.
